The Benefits of Lemon Water

Drinking lemon water comes with a plethora of health and beauty benefits and I want to share some of these benefits with you. I almost always start my day with a glass of warm water and the juice of a lemon. It has strong cleansing properties and help activate my digestive system. Other times, I make flavoured water with herbs (mint is my fav) and lemon to curb my fizzy drink cravings, it's refreshing and also highly beneficial.  

Lemons are also great source of vitamin C and they come loaded with potassium, magnesium and copper. So here are some reasons you should start your mornings with a cup of warm, or cold, lemon water.

Digestion and Detoxification: Lemon juice prompts the body to produce bile. Bile production is very important to the body because bile ensures that the food we eat moves through our bodies with little to no issues. Lemon water also helps with easing the discomfort that comes with indigestion.

Vitamin C: Our bodies cannot and does not produce Vitamin C on its own, so it is therefore imperative that we consume Vitamin C rich  foods and fruits everyday. Drinking a glass of lemon water will boost the Vitamin C levels in your body. This Vitamin is important for white blood cell production and strengthening your immune system.

Weight Loss: Drinking lemon water also helps with weight loss. The pectin found in lemons is a type of fiber that helps us feel fuller. This means that after drinking some lemon water, you will not be as inclined to overeat or scarf down a packet of cookies.

Energy Level: I love a good, strong cup of coffee every now and then but sipping on some lemon infused water as soon as you wake up will boost our energy levels without worrying about the caffeine crash. You can choose between a cup of warm or cold water, but whichever option you go with, the lemon water will kickstart your body.
