A few days ago, I had the pleasure of having Iftar at 3 in 1 restaurant at Vida Downtown Dubai. It has been one of my favorite Iftar’s so far. Everything from the elegant arabesque dinning set up to the perfectly cooked kebabs was faultless.
I broke my fast with freshly squeezed apple juice packed in the most adorable bottle followed by a selection of dates, nuts and dried fruit. The first course was a buffet selection of salads, drips, smoked meats and bread. I had fatooush, tabbouleh and smoked salmon to start which was simply delicious. The main course was not disappointing as we were presented with a selection of grilled lamb, kebabs, fish in a spicy tomato sauce and a warm side of veggies and rice. The hotel has introduced this dinning style in line with their initiative to cut down on food waste and I think it’s absolutely brilliant. Did you know that 55% of food made during Ramadan is wasted? It is sickening to see so much food being wasted so I really appreciate the initiative.
Okay, I have to confess something. I had four desserts. No, I am not ashamed. The Crème brulee was heavenly and you could see specks of real vanilla. The mango panna cotta was another of my favorites with actual bits of mango, you have to try it to understand. The crème caramel melts in your mouth and of course I had a portion of fruits! So yummy.
